Dr Krueger was a collaborator for the Global Burden of Diseases, Risk Factors and Injuries Study, providing expertise for Canada. This research was conducted by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.
One of the articles that resulted from this collaboration focused on global cancer rates. This study estimated that there were 14.9 million incident cancer cases globally in 2013, resulting in 8.2 million deaths and 196.3 million disability-adjusted life years lost.
